Support us
We are entirely volunteer-run. Every hour and every dollar goes straight back into adventure for young people in Bannockburn, Lethbridge and the Golden Plains.
Where the money goes
Term fees cover the basics. Everything beyond that comes from fundraising.
Hall hire
Two halls, every week of every school term.
Camping gear
Tents, trangias, packs, ropes and canoes — repaired and replaced as they wear out.
Badges and awards
Every badge a young person earns is bought by the group.
Keeping costs down
Subsidising camps and activities so cost is never the reason a young person misses out.
Ways to help
Give us your time
The most valuable thing you can give. Help on a meeting night, drive to a camp, fix equipment, or train as a leader — Scouts Victoria provides the training and we cover the fees.
Join the committee
Our Group Support Committee handles finances, fundraising and the things that keep the group running. A couple of hours a month makes a real difference.
Come to a fundraiser
Sausage sizzles, trivia nights, working bees and the Group Camp raffle. Turning up is support.
Donate directly
A one-off or regular donation goes straight into equipment and reducing costs for families.
Sponsor us
Local businesses can sponsor equipment, a camp or the group as a whole. We are happy to acknowledge sponsors here on the website.
Donate goods
Serviceable camping gear, tools and craft materials are always welcome. Ask us first so we know what we can use.
Local businesses
If you run a business in the Golden Plains and would like to support local young people, we would love to hear from you. Sponsorship can be as simple as covering the cost of a set of tents, or supporting our annual Group Camp.
In return we can acknowledge your support on this website, in our newsletters and at group events. Talk to our Group Leader about what would suit.
How to donate
Bank transfer
Our Treasurer can provide account details — email gl.Bannockburnlethbridge@scoutsvictoria.com.au and we will send them to you, along with a receipt once your donation arrives.
[TO CONFIRM: whether to publish the group BSB and account number here, or keep it on request. Publishing is convenient but invites scam impersonation, so most groups keep it on request.]
About tax deductions
[TO CONFIRM with Scouts Victoria before publishing: whether donations to our group are tax deductible, and whether donations should be made to Scouts Victoria centrally so a deductible receipt can be issued. Do not claim deductibility on the website until this is confirmed.]
Other easy ways to chip in
Container deposit scheme
Victoria’s container deposit scheme lets you donate your 10c refunds to a registered community group. [TO CONFIRM: register the group and add our scheme ID here.]
Workplace giving and matching
Some employers match staff donations or offer volunteering grants. Worth asking your employer — it can double the value of your support.
Thank you
Every young person who gets to sleep under canvas, paddle a river or lead a patrol for the first time does so because someone in this community helped make it possible. Thank you.
